Excerpts from COD Emergency Response Plan

 

College Staff Response

No plan can anticipate every event and circumstances will dictate appropriate responses to as of yet unknown events, however, certain behaviors will be beneficial in most situations.

  • Remain calm.
  • Render aid to anyone injured with in the limits of your abilities.
  • Assist responding agencies by sharing your knowledge of events and following their directions for your safety.

Remember communication. The Public Safety Police Department serves as a center for coordinating information and services should any type of emergency response be required. This includes contacts with local, state, and federal law enforcement officials, with fire and medical services, and emergency management agencies.

 

Public Safety Police can be reached anytime at 942-2000. In Glen Ellyn dial ext. 2000 or for other sites “Dial 911” for an emergency.

 

Police Response

  • Secure scene.
  • Assess the situation.
  • Provide first aid as needed.
  • Establish a command center.
  • Request outside assistance as needed.
  • Arrange for staging areas.
  • Maintain a presence.
  • Arrange for post-incident counseling.
  • Evaluate response.

Fire Department Response

  • Respond to scene.
  • Assess situation.
  • Provide medical aid to injured.
  • Perform fire suppression if needed.
