Evening Administrator Duties

Evening Administrator Duty Guidebook

An evening Administrator-on-Duty (AOD) will be available Monday through Thursday on campus from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and reachable by phone until 10:00 p.m. Public Safety will provide the Administrator with a cell phone to be used by Public Safety to contact them and, programmed with Vice President’s contact numbers, to permit the administrator to easily reach cabinet officers.

Administrators may use their own cell phones, but must make sure that they have current numbers for reaching cabinet officers and that Public Safety has the number of their personal cell phone. (College cell phones are due back to Public Safety by 9:00 a.m. on the day following the administrator’s evening duty.)

The evening administrator is responsible for:

  • Lending support to full and part-time evening faculty and staff, students and community members.
  • Keeping a log of incidents.
  • Making referrals the following business day to the appropriate administrative staff on all incidents requiring follow-up.
  • Assisting students, staff, faculty and community members with College policies and procedures.
  • Making immediate referrals to appropriate administrators in cases where immediate decisions are required. (Such time sensitive referrals are usually made when the decision required must be or can only be made by the appropriate administrator and not the AOD. Public Safety has a list of administrators’ home phone numbers).
  • Keeping abreast of services available on his/her evening duty (an activities list is available in Public Folders\All Public Folders\Information\Institution\Activities Listing).
